Maximise Space by Tidying Up Your Garage
Given the hectic pace that we live, there is often little room to devote time for tidying the home, much less the garage. However, it is not wise to allow tools and various assortments of odds and ends to pile up in the latter. Having equipment lying around has the potential to cause accidents. It can also limit vehicle manoeuvrability in terms of parking. Here are some tips then on how to reduce clutter in this area so you can maximise the much needed space.
Begin by backing out your vehicles. Once this is done, close the garage door then start picking everything off the floor and moving it to the centre of the garage. Doing so will enable you to clean every corner and arrange things properly after you are done.
Put smaller items away. Store them in bins or hang them up when needed. If you do not have wall hooks handy, use heavy nails instead. Hammer them along the sides of your garage. The 60p nail type is strong enough to hold a bike while a 16p is good for rakes, shovels, brooms, and hoes.
When you are finished with the previous step, it is now time to pick out the things that do not get used often or are brought out seasonally. These items are to be placed on the rafters. If yours are bare, you will need a piece of particle board that is long enough to sit between two of the rafters.
Finally, you are down to all those bulky equipment that are too big to fit under your tool bench. You will need to arrange them neatly. Sweep thoroughly starting from the outside and work your way towards the centre. Then place the big items in their proper places.
