Importance of Learning How to Replace Tyres when Travelling
The first thing that you have to do when thinking of travelling is to equip yourself with the needed things to make the journey easier. However, most of the time when we travel with our own vehicles, we tend to forget essential tools, particularly when we are in a hurry. Camping trips, for instance, are good examples of such cases when important things were left behind due to carelessness or other reasons. For this reason, it is very important to stay focused and relaxed when on a trip to easily manage unavoidable situations.
For example, what will you do when a tyre suddenly goes flat? What are your action plans when you are with your family on the road when this happens? Will you wait for help to come to you? Chances are that you will surely be stranded if you do not have the skills to replace a flat tyre. On the other hand, if you know how to remove and replace the defective item, then you will be back on the road in no time. All you need is a car jack, a spare tyre, and a lug nut wrench or a tyre iron.
Basically, when you are in the middle of the road, you must ensure that you have activated the parking brake with the hazard lights on. Then, safely jack up your vehicle at the frame and push it a bit higher to provide more space to remove and replace the flat tyre. Lug nuts must be taken off from the tyre, but make sure that they are safely located so that these would not roll away. When you are done replacing the tyre, lower the jack and tighten the lug nuts as much as you can.
